ANNOUNCING THE NYC MEDIA LAB 100

DEADLINE: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH 2018 (5PM)

NYC Media Lab will select 100 of the most innovative demos from across the City's university ecosystem to participate in the NYCML'18 Demo Expo— the NYC Media Lab 100. Faculty and students can apply in a concept, working prototype, poster or experience to participate. The Demo Expo is the best way to get your idea in front of an audience of 1,000+ media and technology executives and meet like-minded peers. 

NYC Media Lab is interested in technologies that explore the following areas: virtual and augmented reality; data science; IoT; user experience design; blockchain; human computer interfaces; wearables; creative technology; and entrepreneurial concepts. 

Eligibility: Faculty and students currently enrolled in an accredited NYC-based university are eligible to apply. Alumni that graduated within the past calendar year (since spring 2018) are also eligible.

OFFERING $25,000 IN AWARDS

NYC Media Lab will invite experts to serve as judges. Judges will assess applications based on three criteria: technical depth; potential impact; and creativity. Judging will take place following the close of applications on September 4th, 2018.  NYC Media Lab will issue $25,000 in awards to the best and brightest selected demos. Awards will be split into four categories: virtual and augmented reality; data science; entrepreneurial/startups; and creative technology. Learn more about the winners from last year's event here. 

Judges will be announced in the summer of 2018. 


THE APPLICATION

DEADLINE: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH, 5PM

The application to demo is rolling. Only 100 demos will be selected; submitting early increases your chances of participating in the event. 

In the application, you will be asked to provide a short video about your demo. The video should describe the core technologies, your process, and your reasons for producing the demo. Please reach out to Alexis Avedisian (alexis@nycmedialab.org), with any questions or comments about the application.
